Released March 30 and available free at Blackvertiser.com/blog, the manifesto is expected to help in shaping and providing inspiration and guidance for Black blogging at a time when Blacks are lagging behind in the blogosphere which is now pushing its frontiers.
Besides, "many bloggers have very poor readership due partly to the fact that they do not know how to earn the trust of their target readers, and The Black Blogging Manifesto is here to help such bloggers at no cost whatsoever," notes Paschal Eze, a former daily newspaper and monthly business magazine editor-in-chief turned Black blogger.
The manifesto addresses issues like verifying facts before publication, checking grammar, blogging retractions, blogging understandably in the language of the target readers, comportment while covering events, ghost blogging, dealing with paid blogging, timeliness, thought-provoking blogging and blog branding, among others.
"These are some of the issues that often come up when discussing blogging benchmarks or standards or simply how to get started with blogging without making booboos," adds Eze who is on a mission to widen the appeal blogging deserves in the Black community through, among other things, his recently announced $200 Black Couple Blogging Scholarship aimed at attracting Black couples into blogging.
Thus, The Black Blogging Manifesto would be helpful to both budding Black bloggers and established ones looking for common sense benchmarks and inspirational guidelines.
Reiterating his position on the connection between blogging and Black socio-political and economic empowerment, Eze points out that, as Blacks, "we must plead our own cause online through blogging."
Bloggers now play visibly vigorous roles in shaping American political discourse, all serious politicians have blogosphere outreaches, all serious businesses and nonprofit organizations have blogs, with many using ghost bloggers, and lots of money is flowing to mostly White bloggers who dominate the blogosphere.
"I must state, however, that The Black Blogging Manifesto I developed does not have all the answers but it is able to provide the inspiration and leadership that are sometimes lacking in blogosphere,' posits Eze whose Paschal Eze Media would be announcing winners of the Black Couple Blogging Scholarship on June 1 when Blackvertiser.com which has been in its beta stage since March 1 2007 would be formally launched.
